How Sad

When my daughters were young, we went to the beach and splashed in the Sound, jumped the waves, and practiced our swimming. And when the goosebumps or the jellyfish drove us out of the water, we sat in the warm sand, gathering seashells and building sandcastles.

And we talked. Sometimes we were with friends, and other times it was just an opportunity to enjoy each other’s company.

How sad that we now have to build a place near the water so that children can play in water.
