A Positive Impact on Artists

In light of recent news about retail store closings both in our state and nationally, we felt a thank you note to our supportive community was in order. The non-profit Guilford Art Center (GAC) has operated our shop of fine American art and craft for close to 40 years. It’s filled with handcrafted work by more than 200 American artists ranging from ceramics to jewelry to decorative objects. Importantly, it serves a part of our mission to support artists and their work, to present inspirational examples to our visitors, and to help embed the arts in our community.

As many of our fellow small retailers will attest, it can be a challenge to keep the doors open due to economic swings, an increase in online shopping, and competition from big box stores. So we felt it important to say “thank you” to everyone who visited our shop this holiday season and throughout the year, as we are here year-round. Every purchase made had a positive impact on the artists who work with us, as well as providing important financial support for the wider GAC mission of bringing arts experiences to all. We so appreciate that our community supports this mission and understands how important it is to have a vibrant arts resource for all to enjoy.
