Communities Are Diverse

I applaud your decision to continue to accept firearms advertising in the Valley Courier. I disagree with Debra Paulson’s assertion (Jan. 2 letter “Gun Ads Unfit for Community Newspaper”) that such advertising is “hardly fit for a community newspaper.” Communities are, by their very nature, diverse.

You pointed out in your excellent reply that your objective is to serve the entire community, which certainly includes people who see things quite differently. There is far too much of a tendency today to want to ban what one doesn’t like or doesn’t agree with. It takes a certain amount of courage to take the principled stand you have taken, and I, for one, appreciate it.
