12/25/2019 07:00 AMWe want to extend our heartfelt thank you to all who came to greet Morrill and Karen Worcester and the 12 tractor-trailers; 12 WAA-wrapped SUVs; four, 15-passenger vans; 20-plus police cruisers (including 13 from Maine and one from New Hampshire); and one bus carrying veterans, Gold Star family members, and other convoy participants, along with the Patriot Guard Riders motorcyclists and other vehicles who were part of the two-mile-long convoy for Wreaths Across America that visited Old Saybrook on Dec. 10. There were veterans from across the state attending this special event, along with Gold Star families.
We thank the following organizations for their generous donations to make lunch possible for the entire Wreaths Across America convoy: The Rotary Club of Old Saybrook, The Elks Lodge No. 1784 of Westbrook, The Shoreline Ladies Golf League, VFW Post 10153 of Old Saybrook, the Old Saybrook Fire Department, and EIR Network, LLC.
Thanks also go to U.S. Marine Corps veteran/Chief Meteorologist Gil Simmons from WTNH/NEWS8 for an excellent emcee job! In addition, we want to thank the Old Saybrook High School, including Principal Sheila Riffle, Associate Principal Joe Anastasio, and Jeremiah Taylor, Jeremy Milton, Don Mitchell, and especially Maureen Nuzzo and her staff with the Old Saybrook Food Services. Special thanks, as well, go to the Old Saybrook Police Department and Old Saybrook Fire Department firefighters Tom Heinssen and John Romano and Chaplain Geoff Sinibaldo.
