An Adventurous Morning

Saturday, Nov. 16 was a crisp, sparkling morning, a perfect day for the adventurous Meals On Wheels supporters who gathered at Guilford’s newest sports attraction: The Rick Maynard Disc Golf Course at Bittner Park. After a tutorial by Craig Smolin, teams enjoyed the day (and kept warm) trying out the newest game in town. The morning ended with refreshments and raffles.

Thanks go to all who made this Meals on Wheels fundraiser a success: the golfers, Craig Smolin for his helpful instruction, Park & Recreation Director Rick Maynard and the Park & Recreation Department for allowing the event to take place at Bittner Park, George Page of Page Insurance for sponsoring the event and generously donating the discs, and to the following businesses for contributing raffle prizes and tickets for a silent auction: Take the Cake, Oasis Nail Salon, The Previdi System, Shift Cycle, Jersey Mikes, Hidden Kitchen, Mr. J’s Chinese, Cohen’s Bagels, Blazin Fresh Donuts, Deli U; Mojoe’s Gym, Westwood Wines, Guilford Lakes Golf Course, Massage Savvy, Dunkin Donuts, Buffalina Pizza, Kamana, and Hinding Tennis for tickets to see comedian Sebastian Maniscalco.

The Meals on Wheels program truly benefits from this support and we are planning for the second annual disc golf tournament in the warmer weather of 2020.
