Thank You, Clinton

I want to express my deep gratitude to the voters of Clinton who elected me to the new Town Council. I’m very excited to play a part in the evolution of the governance of our town and sincerely want to thank them for this opportunity.

The new council will see some old and new faces. While Christine Goupil, Tim Guerra, and I have experience in this area, the newly seated council members—Chris Aniskovich, Mark Richards, Dennis Donovan, and Eric Bergman—are entirely new to the position. We’ll all learn together how to best manage the responsibilities ahead of us. We are all on an equal footing.

I also want to thank Jack Scherban, Jane Welch, Leah Saunders, and Dara Onofrio for their sincere contributions to the campaign. I’m sorry that these people did not get the opportunity to serve, but I hope we haven’t heard the last of them and that they’ll remain active Clinton supporters. Personally, I’ll miss Jack’s open, honest assessment of issues that came before the Board of Selectmen. He was always upbeat and put a positive spin on things.

Hopefully, the changes coming to town will put an end to the bi-annual divisiveness that elections seem to bring. No one benefits from mud slinging and untruths. The people of Clinton and Clinton itself are hurt by minor-league factions that promote their interests at the expense of good, hardworking, honest people that raise their hands to say “yes—I’ll run”. Untruths and public humiliation of these decent individuals hurts us all.

In closing, I thank Clinton voters for their support and willingness to return me to a position of responsibility of and for Clinton. I am incredibly grateful and I promise them I will remain truthful and always work to support their best interests.

Town Councilor Carol Walter
