Stock Up on Books

The Scranton Library Friends held the second of three book sales on Oct. 18 at the cottage behind the closed laundromat on Bradley Road. A third and last sale for 2019 is planned for Friday, Nov. 15 and Saturday, Nov. 16 at the same location. The November sale will feature the popular $10 for a bag of books event. The friends will supply large sized bags to fill with any type of book, all for just $10. For great bargains, this is not the sale to be missed. Doors will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., both days. As usual, there will be a good supply of books of all types.

Volunteers who worked at the Oct. 18 sale led by Chairman Laurie Gerard, are Liz Attebery, Marsha Brunelle, Barbra Buckley, Marta Carbone, Colleen Cummings, Joan Filbey, Marianne Frost, Bob Gerard, Susannah Graedel, Caroline Guenther, Sandy Long, Kim Malcolm, Pauline Murphy, Ingrid Oris, Connie Piccione, Betsey and Harry Piner, Hank Robinson, Joyce Rourke, and Diane Vanacore. Thanks go to these wonderful volunteers. None of these sales could happen without the hard work of these people.

We thank also those who have donated books, and the people who have come to our sales and bought books. This last sale will be a good time to stock up on books to read during the winter months. We will stop collecting books on Nov. 8, just before our last sale for 2019. We will resume collecting books on March 1, 2020 in preparation for a spring sale. We hope to see many happy buyers on Nov. 15 and 16!
