A Vibrant Community, Even Under Construction

The third phase of roadway and utility improvements in Chester Village will be coming early next year. Improvements will include road upgrades, granite curbing, a permanent gathering place or “plaza” in front of Little House Brewing and the French Hen, and new lights and decorative trees. These upgrades will connect with the previous two improvement projects that occurred in 2015 (Route 154 to Laurel Hill Cemetery) and in 2016 (the Main Street bridge). Extensive work is already underway on the walkway from the Maple Street Parking lot to Main Street, with new signage on the way.

It is projected that Phase 3 will begin in March 2020 and be completed during May 2020. We on the Economic Development Commission recognize that this will be a temporary disruption to our village and to our valued merchants located there. The town is again asking for everyone’s patience during this period and we encourage residents to support the downtown merchants throughout the year and especially during the construction period. We want Chester to continue to be a vibrant community during the construction process.

Thanks go to the Main Street Committee members for all their hard work on this project for our town. Those who would like to review the Main Street renovation plans can do so at the Chester Town Hall or online at the Town of Chester website chesterct.org.
