Truly Altruistic Manner

Am I the only one who is tired of all the politics, negativity, squabbling, and finger pointing? After years of hoping it would get better, I considered leaving my hometown of nearly 40 years. That moment opened my eyes to the role I play as a citizen of Clinton.

I chose to raise a family here, because I love Clinton’s tremendous history, as well as its potential. I chose to stay, because I know we’ve finally started to turn in the right direction. I attribute this to the dedication of First Selectman Christine Goupil. The reason I support Christine’s candidacy for Town Council isn’t only due to her tremendous work ethic and economic development plan, but because I have come to know her truly altruistic manner. She isn’t the typical politician. Christine does herself a disservice by not stepping into the limelight or publicizing her successes. She’s too busy doing the dirty work. She doesn’t step in front of the camera or show up merely for the photo-ops. She would rather put her head down, targeting areas of need growth and improvement.

Christine puts Clinton first. Just like me, she chose Clinton. She chose to move here when looking for the perfect shoreline home for her family. She chose to stay when things weren’t going well. She chose to take the helm at one of the most difficult times, when budgets weren’t passed, economic development stagnated, and the town structure was undecided. She chose to work tirelessly, at all hours, nearly every day, to make the hard decisions.

I know she’ll continue to choose the best for Clinton residents, creating a bright future for our next generation. I encourage your readers to choose Christine—she has Clinton’s best interest at heart and will keep moving Clinton forward!
