10/30/2019 08:00 AMMeghan Scanlon suggests exactly the right balance between the cost of running our town government and the need to protect services: budgets that are lean but not so lean that statutory mandates cannot be met, help make the town more affordable for young families and seniors, while preserving essential services.
One example is our well-regarded school system. Every time a vacancy occurs, the system receives applications from scores of well-qualified people. Guilford is a place in which people want to work. That would not be the case if the Board of Finance did not put such care into its deliberations regarding how to fund education and other town services.
Meghan Scanlon is a big part of that. That is why I am casting my vote for her on Nov. 5. I hope your readers will, too!
