Quick to Assist

I thank First Selectman Jamie Cosgrove and Pam Johnson from The Sound [Sept. 28, “Come Dec. 12, Branford Seniors, WIC, SNAP Residents Exempt from Retail Paper Bag Charges”] for their efforts to educate the citizens of Branford.

The Branford ordinance on paper bag usage and cost to our citizens needed clarification. All citizens, especially seniors and those with specific needs have an exemption from any cost charged for paper bags after Dec. 12. Many merchants had little to no knowledge specific on the elements of this law.

When I spoke to Mr. Cosgrove and Pam Johnson on a possible media campaign to educate everyone, they were so positive and quick to assist our citizens. I thank them both for caring for the citizens of Branford.
