Mystified

As a 40-year resident of Madison, I am mystified by Beth Skudder’s letter of Oct. 17, “Another Embarrassing Icon,” which implies that First Selectman Tom Banisch has a potential conflict of interest by serving as vice chair of the Connecticut Interlocal Risk Management Agency’s (CIRMA) Board of Directors. A look at CIRMA’s website (cirma.ccm-ct.org) states that its mission statement is to meet the risk management and risk financing needs of Connecticut municipalities and local public agencies. The website also shows the list of its bipartisan board, and every single member is a chief executive of his or her town—mayor, first selectman, or town manager.
