Experience and Care Matters

On Nov. 5, Chester voters should re-elect Democratic incumbents First Selectman Lauren Gister and Selectman Charlene Janecek to a third term.

During their four years on the Board of Selectmen, they have demonstrated their qualifications to successfully manage several projects such as securing more that $350,000 of federal funds for repairs to bridges and roads damaged by last September’s flash flooding, making improvements to the Maple Street parking lot and walkway to supplement village parking during construction of the $2.1 million grant funded Main Street improvement project expected to start in early spring 2020, completing conversion to LED streetlights yielding annual savings of more than $30,000 and the installation of 378 solar panels at Chester Elementary School that will save $470,000 in electric costs over the next 20 years.

Their knowledge of working with Chester’s dedicated volunteer boards and commissions, together with their approachable and responsive personalities, are assets that benefit our community. Chester is fortunate to have these capable candidates.

I encourage voters to support Lauren Gister and Charlene Janecek because elected officials’ experience and care for their community matters.
