I encourage those living in Branford’s 4th District to support Shahida Soomro, Dan Adelman, and Cindy Lombardi for our Representative Town Meeting (RTM). As many may know, Branford’s 4th is our town’s largest, most economically and culturally diverse district. More than 75 years ago, Italian families settled one side of West Main Street, while Polish families bought homes on the other side. Many had small farms. In recent decades, District 4 has become home for immigrants from other countries. Our neighbors from Nepal, Pakistan, and India moved to Branford because we are a welcoming town with good schools, a variety of housing, and an active community life. These new citizens and neighbors have added energy and enthusiasm to our community.

Shahida Soomro emigrated from Pakistan to America in 2000 and moved with her family to Branford in 2005. Shahida quickly became involved in the life of our town through new neighborhood friendships, her sons’ schools, The Food Allergy Network, and school athletics. She helped organize a festive gathering to celebrate the opening of Branford Hills Park. This event gave many neighbors living in apartments and condominiums a chance to meet. Our park continues to be a place that embraces District 4 diversity.

Shahida currently represents District 4 on the RTM, together with Dan Adelman and Cindy Lombardi. They’re dedicated to community service, are responsive to our concerns, and very accessible. I encourage all District 4 residents to vote for Shahida Soomro and our Democrat team.
