Do Some Homework

In a quest to better my understanding of how consumers of information think, I’m currently working on a master’s degree in business administration. To have gotten this far with a formal education on the subject requires a lot of research, fact checking, organization, and unbiased conclusions. Personal opinions have no value when it comes to proper money management. This is especially true when it comes to understanding the economics of the Town of Clinton.

Every single Clinton resident has an opinion about what’s important to him or her when it comes to whatever the current town administration does. I would hope that when reading the letters to the editor one is reading somewhat factual content. But sadly in a number of cases, we are not. We’re reading personally biased, unsubstantiated content that relates to that individual’s own needs, be it political or otherwise.

I encourage those who submit their letters to this paper to please fact check their information before they do. I would be embarrassed if I were them and stated some of the outlandish claims that are totally false. People can go to a number of sources and verify the information on both sides of an issue. I will also appeal to your readers to do the same.

Imagine how far along we would be in our economic development if the creators of incorrect and misleading information had turned that energy around and worked with those that got things done for the betterment of Clinton.

In one’s decision making process as to which Town Council candidate to vote for, I encourage your readers to do some homework and check out the candidate’s position to see if what he or she is claiming is actually true or not. They owe it to themselves to know the truth.
