Dedicated to the Town

I am writing to share some inside information I have about one of the candidates for Clinton’s Board of Education. Jason Adler has been preparing for this job since his junior year of high school, when he served as a student member of the Madison Board of Education. During college, Jason and I tutored kids in Chester, Pennsylvania and Jason went on to volunteer as a Big Brother, taking his little brothers out for chicken tenders and superhero movies each week. After college, Jason was an assistant director of Admissions and Financial Aid at Connecticut College. A few years later, Jason decided he was on the wrong side of the college equation, and he earned his degree in school counseling from Southern Connecticut State University.

For the past 17 years, Jason has supported, encouraged, and, at times, redirected thousands of high school students. Six of those years he had a taste of school administration as the director of School Counseling. Finally, Jason has been the president of the Waterford Union of Certified Teachers. I acknowledge that some voters may be suspicious of labor unions, but there is no doubt that the Clinton Board of Education needs members who understand labor contracts and the Connecticut laws regarding them.

Most important, Jason is a dedicated father to our two sons, helping them study, attending their school functions, and guiding them the best he knows how. I am a teacher, myself, and I would want to be governed by a Board of Education member like Jason—a person who loves education, who has worn many hats as an educator, and who is dedicated to the town of Clinton, where we have lived for 19 years. He’s proud to be on Row A on Nov. 5—I encourage your readers to vote Jason Adler for Board of Education!
