Steady and Reasoned Leadership

Shubert Koong is a welcome citizen to the Town of Chester, and I am excited to support his candidacy to the Planning & Zoning Commission (PZC). I have come to know Shubert and his family, during the time that we have been neighbors, and I believe that he has the energy and the skills to work collaboratively with the other PZC members to preserve the unique character of our town.

A couple of years ago, a swarm of gypsy moths destroyed a 100-year old oak tree that sat squarely on the property line, between my house and my neighbor’s house. Sadly, the tree died, which left an 80-foot tall hazard hanging over our houses. When Shubert and his family moved into the house next to mine, he immediately recognized the danger and reached out to me with a plan to remove the tree as quickly as possible. He took the initiative to solicit bids from several tree removal services, supervised the removal of the tree, and then rebuilt the fence between our houses. I was impressed by his ability to develop a plan quickly, and then follow through with removing the dead tree so that our families would be safe.

Importantly, Shubert is quickly building a record of service to our town. He currently serves as the town’s representative to the State of Connecticut’s Central Regional Tourism Board, and has volunteered time with the Chester Elementary School PTO. I am confident that Shubert will provide the same steady and reasoned leadership capabilities to the Chester PZC, as they take on important issues that impact the growth of our town. I encourage your readers to join me in support of Shubert’s candidacy and vote for Shubert Koong for Chester’s PZC Alternate position on election day.
