Serious Business

My husband, Republican Bruce Farmer, is running for a seat on the Clinton Board of Police Commissioners. Here are some facts about Bruce.

Integrity and commitment are the standards he lives by—ask anybody who really knows him. Bruce has always encouraged everybody to ask him direct questions on any issue, including concerns generated this time of the year from untruthful political nonsense. He’s very focused and goal-oriented and operates within set budgets regardless of whom he’s helping, such as churches or non-profits, or when serving in town positions on the Board of Finance (BOF) or as former first selectman, etc.

There are many reasons Bruce will add real value to the police commission, including his municipal leadership experience. He’s also a certified management meeting facilitator.

While on the BOF followed by serving as first selectman, Bruce became well versed on police department contracts, budgets, pensions, benefits, liability, staffing, fleet, equipment, and administrative challenges required by federal and state agencies.

He worked well with the interim police chief Thomas Terrible followed by Chief Vincent DeMaio on several important issues. Bruce is familiar with the Department of Emergency Services/Homeland Security and National Incident Management System. As a retired insurance professional specializing in catastrophic loss of life events management, he understands that safety and security of our community is top priority and must be handled with compassion and respect for all.

If elected, he’ll work to create a cyber security task force, develop a program to reach out to young adults as part of our excellent police community outreach, and encourage additional educational goals for our police commission in order for it to carry out its mission and responsibilities and to maximize its contribution to the police department.
