Communicate and Compromise

On Nov. 5, I will be voting for Matthew Pugliese to fill the seat of Democratic selectman in Old Saybrook. I am currently serving in this position and will be stepping down. In this unique role on the board, it is very important to work cohesively for the best interest of the town, know how to communicate and compromise, and keep the town moving forward.

I have worked with Matt on various town projects, and serve side by side with him on the Economic Development Commission. The qualities I see in him that will serve the town well are thoughtful listening skills, asking good questions, and making careful decisions based on a pool of information. His work background and work ethic will be beneficial to the town. The town will have serious projects coming down the road with Phase 3 septic repairs and ongoing sea level rise. He will understand these issues and know how to contribute to decisions.

I encourage residents to get to know Matt and the other Democratic candidates at our open house meet-and-greet on Sunday, Oct. 27 at 3 p.m. at 48 Main Street. I encourage all to attend to better know who they are voting for!
