An Important Role

The position of town treasurer is an important role. It requires an individual with the ability to understand banking terminology and oversee the multi-million-dollar town budget. The treasurer makes town deposits; ensures funding is received from the state; reports monthly to the Board of Finance on investments, irregularities, receipts, and expenditures; and must intelligently answer questions about town finances.

I served as the deputy town treasurer for eight years (1993 to 2001) and the treasurer for four years (2001 to 2005) and I know what skills are required to do this job. I am proud to support Donna Dupuis for this elected position. Her background includes positions that involved payroll, banking reconciliations, and accounting. Donna is a detail-oriented person and her work ethic is impeccable. She is familiar with the workings of Town Hall, having filled numerous positions on an as needed basis to cover illness and vacations of personnel. She will work closely with the finance director and Board of Finance to ensure they have accurate financial information.

Donna will take the position of town treasurer seriously. I encourage your readers to join me in voting for Donna Dupuis for Killingworth town treasurer on Nov. 5.
