Dedicated, Hardworking Leader

We all moved to and have stayed in Madison because we have a great town with everything from Rockland Park, Bauer Farm, Surf Club, Arts Barn, great athletic facilities, a beautiful downtown, and outstanding town campus to a senior/community center, the historical society, the Deacon John Grave House, salt and fresh water fishing, and a great library. We have programs and activities that can keep a person occupied every day of the year—concerts, arts shows, book reviews, athletic events, etc.

First Selectman Tom Banisch has been involved in the town not for years but for decades. He is not only involved, but is a dedicated, hardworking leader. He has been instrumental in the success of our athletic programs. He has led the effort for the downtown beautification.

When things did not work out with the new Surf Club system, it was Tom who immediately stepped up to understand the issues and address them. Some town residents are in major disagreement over what to do with the Academy School Building. Tom has ensured that we protect the fields adjacent to Academy. Should the school become a new town building? Should it go on the tax rolls as a residence, or commercial property, or combination? Should it be converted to a grass park? Should School Street be included in the modifications? Tom has been a consistent leader in looking for the solution, looking to gain consensus. He has conducted town surveys, town hearings, commissioned studies, and currently has a committee putting forward a town center plan for review.

I strongly recommend Tom Banish for first selectman.
