The Admirable Job

It’s time for another election to determine who will lead Madison as first selectman, and as usual the contest is filled with hyperbole and exaggeration. What is not an exaggeration, however, is the admirable job Mr. Tom Banisch has been doing as our current first selectman, and the numerous accomplishments that have made our town better.

To name a few: Many of our roads are resurfaced; our grounds, parks, and facilities receive constant attention; our police, fire, emergency services, and town maintenance are excellent; we have a top (Aaa) financial rating; and our schools are outstanding, etc. A positive and consistent effort is underway to reinvigorate our downtown in order to attract more businesses and to better support those already established. Already the downtown atmosphere has been significantly improved. All of this is progressing with Mr. Banisch’s emphasis on controlling expenditures and taxes with a practiced eye on budgeting.

Obviously Tom Banisch is an awfully busy man, but not too busy to attend town meetings, services, celebrations and memorials or to skip organizational assemblies for our youth, our seniors, our veterans, our group causes, memorialized events, and public services, etc. And regularly Mr. Banisch is seen and engaged in conversation while walking or jogging throughout the town or appearing at one of the school sporting events. He is surprisingly accessible to all

I find it easy to support those efforts that are very successful, and equally easy to enthusiastically support Tom Banisch for hopefully directing these current and future successful efforts.
