Need to Help Ourselves

This is a very important election for Madison. As our state struggles with the consequences of decades of poor decisions, small towns like ours are being penalized. Our seniors and families are being asked to give more while receiving less. Madison is a donor town, which means our residents continue to be asked to help poorer cities.

The people of Madison have stepped up for years and have willingly helped out, but now we need to help ourselves. Fillmore McPherson and Justin Murphy understand this and both candidates for our Board of Finance are leaders with the right training and experience that can help us all navigate this continuing downturn of Connecticut. This past legislative year, the majority party ignored the pleas of our small businesses and not-for-profits and passed laws and a budget that hurt all of us while spending more money for their pet projects.

Conversations in Hartford continue about funding cuts to our children, families, and seniors. We need local leaders who will oversee our budget and stand up for us with the governor and legislative leaders. The constant financial cuts to towns, new mandates, and attacks on our small businesses are hurting us all. Let’s elect Fillmore McPherson and Justin Murphy to protect all taxpayers and put us before any political party allegiance.
