Incompetence and Divisiveness

I hope everyone is enjoying the last bit of warm weather. Unfortunately my letter may seem a bit harsh, but it needs to be said. I have seen some of the platform for the Democratic ticket under First Selectman Christine Goupil. There are claims that she has delivered on promises. From my perspective that could not be any further from the truth.

I encourage residents to dig a bit deeper and they will learn of the low morale, poor treatment, and complete disconnect with this leadership. How many firings and resignation have there been?

There is no town planner. There is no zoning enforcement officer. There is no wetlands officer. The hiring of town manager is significantly behind schedule.

Something as simple as the current ballot has become the latest debacle. This was vetted by the first selectman and town attorney and yet we now have this mess on our hands. The lack of ability and lack of coordination is mind-boggling. Town Council candidates’ names will need to be listed twice, but only three, not all four, can be listed twice. If a candidate gets more votes for the four year term, he or she will relinquish the two-year term, or vice versa—complete confusion that could have been avoided if people were doing their job. This is just a few of the problems that this administration has created.

Do we really want these people making more decisions for our town? I certainly don’t. A quick view of the minutes will tell you a lot about this group.

Sadly we need to rid our town of incompetence and divisiveness. On Nov 5, I encourage your readers to vote for a better vision and opportunity for Clinton.
