A Proud, Thankful Farewell

The 28th East Haven Fall Festival was another huge success. The weather was fantastic for two of the three days. On Saturday morning, road race runners enjoyed beautiful fall weather. On Saturday night, one of the largest crowds on record danced the night away to the music of The Grass Roots. On Sunday, the car show exhibited more cars than I can ever recall being on our Town Green.

The festival is a yearlong endeavor, with the planning for next year’s event beginning this month. I would like to thank the planning committee for all of its help over the last 11 months. Committee members spent numerous hours on the green throughout the event ensuring it proceeded smoothly. In addition, I would like to thank the numerous other volunteers who don’t serve on the committee, but who turn out each year to assist with the festival. Without all of these volunteers, the festival would not exist.

I would like to congratulate this year’s Merit Award winners and our festival special recognition honorees, who are a shining example of what makes East Haven such a wonderful community.

I would also like to thank our Public Works, Fire, and Police departments, who work the entire weekend each year. Lastly, I would like to thank Mayor Joseph Maturo, Jr., and his staff for their sustained commitment to the success of this event.

My term as Fall Festival president is up and this will be my final year on the Festival Committee. For 28 years, I have had the good fortune to work with many talented and dedicated people who have been instrumental to the success of the festival. I am proud of the success the event has enjoyed, grateful to have been a part of it, and hopeful for its continued growth.

Alfred J. Zullo, President
