A Critical Time

I’m writing in support of Erin Duques and Bruce Wilson for the Board of Selectmen.

Although a newcomer to the Madison political scene, Erin is no stranger to government. Her interest in government and public policy began in high school when she served in the U.S. Congressional Page program in Washington, D.C. After graduating from the Isenberg School of Management at UMass Amherst, Erin moved to Madison and worked as a legislative assistant before attending Quinnipiac Law School. Erin has served as an attorney in both the private and non-profit arenas, and has served as a trustee at Mitchell College in New London, as a member of the organizing committee of Vista Advocacy Services, and currently serves on the Board of the SARAH Foundation in Guilford. She is married to local entrepreneur and Economic Development Commission Chair Ryan Duques and is the proud mother of two young daughters.

Many people in town are already familiar with Bruce Wilson, as he as served on our Board of Selectmen for the past four years and previously served on the Board of Education. His moderate approach and reach-across-the-aisle diplomacy have served the citizens of Madison well. He is a critical thinker, a great problem solver, and an experienced business person. Bruce grew up in Madison and he and his wife Liz have three children.

This is a critical time for Madison as we strive to keep our town strong while facing increasingly difficult situations being thrust upon us by the state. Both Erin and Bruce bring experience and level-headedness to the table and are a great addition to the Republican ticket.

I encourage all residents to vote for Erin Duques and Bruce Wilson on Nov. 5.
