Sets High Standards

Once in a while, a unique candidate presents for public service, a candidate whose qualities, qualifications, and temperament perfectly align with the elected position that is sought. Alfred “Chub” Wilcox is clearly that candidate. As a long-time registered Republican, I enthusiastically endorse Democrat Chub Wilcox’s candidacy for the Old Saybrook Police Commission. In April, Chub was appointed to serve on the commission; he now seeks to retain the seat in the November election. During the two years that I have known him, it is clear that Chub Wilcox sets high standards and brings his worthy perspective to the commission.

As a retired attorney with 40 years of legal experience, he has a sharp intellect and a passion for the law. He is a thinker—and a doer—who commits much time and energy to every issue. Chub thoroughly examines the facts and determines relevant details when taking a position.

Chub Wilcox provides a thoughtful, respectful manner as he shares his views and interacts with others. When he speaks, others listen. Yet, he welcomes discussion and considers all opinions. As a skillful communicator, Chub will contribute a strong, positive influence on the commission.

Great outcomes are possible when all parties collaborate and champion a shared vision. Chub Wilcox values the need for leaders to work together to continuously improve the quality of life, safety, and security in our town. He will work closely with commission members and police administration to balance fiscal responsibility and good solutions for all.

I encourage your readers to join me in voting for Alfred “Chub” Wilcox for Police Commission on Nov. 5.
