Disrespectful Drivers

I am thankful it will be the last year I drive my son to Guilford High School (GHS) in the morning. From the time I enter New England Road off Route 1 to the entrance of GHS, it’s a challenging ride. This includes parents as well as students.

The first problem I encounter is at the intersection of New England Road and Old New England Road—careful, no one stops at stop signs. They just go through! The next is when I come to Schoolside Lane; again they feel they do not have to stop at their stop sign and blow out in front of me. Then, of course, the biggest problem GHS has inflicted upon us: Waiting to turn into the lane, with people, both older and kids, not giving the right of way. I have to wait at least seven cars go before I can get one nice person to let me go. Another problem is no one follows the sign “Drive All The Way Up”—nope, it doesn’t work. Sorry, I try. Next you have the kids cut you off while trying to leave. They are pulling into their spaces from the other direction.

After school is another joke. Only on occasion do I pick up my son because I detest pickup. Coming up to turning right to leave is awful, after at least 10 cars I nose up and get my way out. The majority of these terrible and disrespectful drivers are kids. I think families need to review the rules of the road before giving them a vehicle.

All these years and still not a word from the principal. Why can’t he send an email to these parents and students?
