The coronavirus crisis has nearly halted the local economy — including media advertising. That means local, independent news organizations such as ours must fight for our own survival while continuing to provide critical news and information as a public service during this unprecedented situation. As a District 7 resident and voter, I am casting my vote for RTM incumbent Tom Brockett and political newcomer Donna Laich on Nov. 5.
Tom’s credentials as a dedicated and involved member of the RTM are well-documented. Tom works tirelessly as an RTM member and his dedication to and knowledge of the Town of Branford are an invaluable asset. Tom, a retired labor lawyer and Vietnam veteran, brings professionalism and life experience to the RTM that cannot be duplicated.
Tom knows Branford better than anyone holding elected office. Tom has a hopeful insight into Branford’s problems and needs and has always shown a willingness to examine the issues, listen closely to the public’s questions and concerns, and find creative solutions.
Tom was instrumental in bringing back the traditional pension plan for Branford police officers. As a result, Branford will retain the officers it pays to train, resulting in a great savings to the town and benefit to our police department. I know Tom will continue to serve the town and the 7th District with the same passion that he exhibits in all of his endeavors. Tom is a man of service and integrity who truly wants the best for the Town of Branford and the 7th District.
Donna Laich also brings a passion for public service and a wealth of knowledge as a former educator and coach. Donna is passionate about the environment and an advocate for preserving our beautiful Branford coastline.
I am hoping that fellow 7th District residents will vote for Tom and Donna in the upcoming election and spread the word to others concerning the value of their abilities and service.
