A Kind and Giving Nature

Last month, Meals on Wheels lost a generous and loyal volunteer when Richard “Dave” Walkden passed away. Those of us fortunate enough to have known Dave recognize that his volunteer work exemplified his kind and giving nature. He considered the mornings that he spent delivering Meals on Wheels with his long time friend Herb Burstein as time very well spent.

Dave and his wife Bess and Herb and his wife Sue have all volunteered for many years to ensure that Guilford residents received Meals on Wheels. Our gratitude for their incalculable hours of service cannot be expressed, nor can we express the depth of our sadness upon the loss of our friend.

We will miss Dave. Our thoughts and prayers are with Bess. Guilford is lucky to have residents who are willing to lend a helping hand to their neighbors. Meals on Wheels could not provide services to residents in need without the generosity and sacrifice of wonderful, selfless people. Thanks go to one and all.
