Part of the Team

My name is Lou Vinciguerra and I am running for a position on the Harbor Management Commission (HMC) this November. I have been a resident of Old Saybrook since 2001. I have enjoyed a lifetime of sailing on the Connecticut River and Long Island Sound and have been a North Cove mooring holder in since 2002.

I have recently retired from a 37-year career as a civil engineer/project manager for the U.S. Coast Guard civil service including 13 years military active duty starting at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy. I am a licensed professional engineer and have years of experience managing construction projects at U.S. Coast Guard stations and bases including dredging, bulkheads, piers, docks, boat ramps, and shore protection. For six weeks each summer, I manage a junior sailing program in North Cove that teaches kids ages 8 to 14 boating skills and how to sail.

Now retired with more time available, I am following the example my father Frank Vinciguerra set in giving back to the community as he spent many years serving on the Old Saybrook Planning Commission, Architectural Review Board, and also member of the team constructing the Main Street Gateway Building that houses the Chamber of Commerce.

I firmly believe that North Cove docks and moorings and the Ferry Point dock are great assets to our town and I want to be part of the team that manages, maintains, and improves these facilities. I encourage your readers to re-elect Bob Murphy, the current chair of the HMC. Our town is thriving under the strong leadership of First Selectman Carl Fortuna, Selectman Scott Giegerich, and Treasurer Bob Fish. I encourage your readers to support them in the November election as well
