It’s Long Overdue

I’ve been in town for 20 years now. In fact, I love this town, but I see such great potential being wasted. And it breaks my heart. Yet I’ve been reinvigorated by the Clinton Green Party and its approach at cleaning up our town. I think that it’s long overdue, and I look forward to voting for many of the party’s nominated candidates.

Moving to a town council/manager model of local government will mean such wonderful opportunities for Clinton. We can now hopefully move beyond the petty, two-party feuding and bickering that has cost many people their reputations and consequently has scared many good people away from running for office or volunteering for a board or commission. As a dedicated and trusted public school teacher in town, Eric Bergman would be a perfect fit for the new seven-person Town Council.

I also like what I’ve been reading about the Green Party’s nominations for the Board of Education. How nice would it be to have a third-party board member who commits to cost savings, student engagement, and looking to the future? John May and Jason Feeney are worth a serious look.

And for them to keep me updated on their Facebook page is really spectacular. These candidates seem interested and willing to work for my vote. I respect that.

So I encourage your readers to consider some of the Clinton Green Party candidates this fall. It will feel good to select people based on their vision and integrity and not just their party designation.
