Facts, Figures, and the Public

My name is Michele Nuhn. I am currently the tax collector for the Town of Killingworth and running for re-election this November. Since I am asking for your readers’ votes, I would like to tell you about my work experience and relevant qualifications.

As tax collector for the last 12 years, I have established a record of accuracy, efficiency, and attention to detail. I have always enjoyed working with facts and figures and the public. A graduate of Haddam-Killingwoth High School (HKHS), I hold an associates degree in business administration and am a certified connecticut municipal collector, which requires three years of classes and on-the job training. I am presently taking classes towards becoming a certified Connecticut municipal official. I am serving my second term as treasurer for the Middlesex County Tax Collector’s Association. I have 11 years of banking experience, including management positions at American Savings Bank. I spent one year working as assistant town clerk, ran a home daycare business for several years, and was a preschool teacher at Killingworth Nursery School.

I am a lifelong resident of Killingworth. My husband Todd and I have two daughters, Alexis and Mikayla, who are also graduates of HKHS. An active member of our community and former girl scout leader, I enjoyed volunteering in the classroom when my children were younger. I served as an assistant religious education instructor for two years as well.

During my 12 years as tax collector, I have implemented several systems that have increased taxpayer convenience and improved back tax collections. I take pride in doing my job efficiently and accurately, essential in this position. I am proud to say that Killingworth’s most recent collection rate was 99.344%

I would love to continue serving the Town of Killingworth in the position of tax collector.
