A Devastating Impact

I am encouraging all East Haven residents to attend a public hearing at the Planning & Zoning Commission meeting scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2019, at 7 p.m. at the East haven Senior Center, 91 Taylor Avenue. The proposed development of 500 affordable housing units as well as a zone change are being proposed.

A similar project for 600 elderly housing units and zone change was denied in 2017. This project would be massive and have a devastating impact on our community—traffic, blasting, the impact on our education system, and strain on police and fire departments, not to mention the environmental impact this will have.

The proposal is for the old Girl Scout Camp Murray site, which is zoned as R5. This was denied a change before. I encourage your readers to attend this hearing—voices carry, voices count.
