Transparent in Every Project

My name is Will Benoit and I’m running to be an alternate on the Planning & Zoning Commission in Clinton. As a new father, I think a lot about the long-term goals and wellbeing of our community. My wife and I moved here 10 years ago after living in Boston where I earned a B.A. from Emerson College. I grew up in Old Saybrook, so I’ve felt deeply connected to the shoreline my entire life.

Coastal resilience is an issue that needs to be addressed for the future vitality of our town. We must connect with our representatives in Hartford and The Connecticut Institute for Resilience and Climate Adaptation to find funding and commit ourselves to problems like salt marsh advancement in order to protect Clinton for future generations.

Our First Selectman Christine Goupil and her team have done an amazing job kickstarting development in Clinton. Walking downtown this summer, Main Street felt alive. The Indian River Landing development is scheduled to begin, our train station renovation and Route 81 beautification project are both underway, and a developer has been secured to revitalize the factory that Unilever shuttered. The Shoreline Greenway Trail creates a bikeway/walkway that connects us more closely with our neighbors and Clinton is now home to some of the best new locally owned eateries in the area. We need to keep investing in the responsible growth of our town while carefully maintaining the New England character that we all love.

Perhaps most important, I’ll be transparent in every project I work on. I’ll answer questions honestly, and I’d like to find out what the future of Clinton looks like to residents.

This November, I encourage your readers to consider voting for me and the entire slate of Row A candidates. Together we are moving Clinton forward.
