Support a Great Organization

The Rotary Club of Deep River has been an integral part of the community since 1950, when the club was established. Our local club is part of Rotary International, which is an organization of business and professional people around the world and provides humanitarian service, encourages high ethical standards in all vocations and helps build international goodwill and peace. Our motto is “Service Above Self.”

Locally, our Rotary Club has been instrumental in providing many service projects in Deep River and beyond. We offer college scholarships, student of the month, Valley Regional High School Rotary 4 Way Test Essay Contest, Region 4 Backpack Program, dictionaries to Deep River Elementary School 3rd grade classes, shelter boxes to aid in disaster relief, and free summer tai chi classes at the Deep River Town Landing and support Habitat for Humanity, the local soup kitchen, and the Thanksgiving Food Drive. Recently, we have given support to The Nest. In addition, our club was instrumental in developing the Deep River Landing, the Keyboard Pond Park and Gazebo, and the Town Hall Elephant.

In order for our club to continue our efforts, we must be successful in fundraising. Our major fundraiser is the eighth annual Oktoberfest, which will be held on Saturday, Sept. 28 from 6 to 10 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Parish Center in Chester. Tickets are $75 per person and include appetizers, dinner of traditional German fare, desserts, silent auction, DJ with dancing, games, and German beer and wine.

I encourage your readers to come, have a good time, and help support a great organization so the Rotary Club of Deep River can continue to provide service projects locally and internationally.
