The Ultimate Decision

I’ve had a number of people ask me recently about the status of the Academy School. Is the community center a done deal or is there a possibility for any other use of the building? Are we really planning to spend $14,000,000 to fix it up for town use?

I will continue to explain that the decision about Academy School will be made by the people of the Town of Madison at Referendum. Because this issue has arisen, it is necessary to plan for it in our Capital Improvement Plan, and you’ll see discussion about it during that process, but the funding will be bonding, which must be approved at referendum.

The people of Madison will make the ultimate decision about what happens to Academy—not the Board of Selectmen nor the Academy Ad Hoc Committee.
