What’s Right About this Town

Samantha Parlato is on the ballot in the upcoming Republican primary for a 4th District Town Council seat and I’m supporting her bid. I’ve known Sam for several year as we both were involved with the Republican Party. She’s a person of the highest integrity, respected by many, and currently president of East Haven Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Board of Education (BOE), and a preschool teacher at the Old Town Church.

Two years ago, Sam was elected to the BOE and has worked hard for the betterment of the BOE, the education system, and most important, the kids. She’s the board secretary and serves on many subcommittees such as Finance, PTO, and Policy. As a new member, she jumped right into the position and acclimated herself to the task at hand, putting in many hours of her time and gaining valuable knowledge and experience with the nuisances of BOE and the town’s protocols.

Sam’s a fighter; this is why she’s primarying for this position on the Town Council. She didn’t have the initial support of the Republican Town Committee in the 4th District and that’s unfortunate, because if we truly want the best people available for the job, then Sam should’ve been voted in. It’s the old adage “it’s not what you know, it’s who you know.”

Sam is suited to make a bid for the Town Council position in the Republican party. She’s what’s right about this town, a genuine person who will work across party lines to do what’s right for East Haven. As for anyone thinking that this is costing the town extra money, it’s not—remember Sal Maltese was already going to primary against “Big Steve” Tracy for mayor. I encourage Republicans to make their voices heard and to please vote!
