Time and Effort

The Scranton Library Friends (SLF) used book sale held on June 21 to 23 was a success, earning more than $7,000 for the library. Volunteers, headed by Jen Thompson, sorted books, moved tables, set up tents, took down tents, moved boxes of books, helped buyers select books, and were cashiers. A heavy rainstorm on Friday did not deter buyers or volunteers and fortunately, Saturday and Sunday brought beautiful weather. The SLF is grateful to all who donated books for the sale, and those who came and bought books.

Our great volunteers were Liz Attebery, Kurt Alletzhauser, Meg Berlin, Marsha and Tom Brunelle, Barbra Buckley, Marta Carbone, Beth Cerny, Paula Chabot, Colleen Cummings, Joan Filbey, John Fox, Marianne Frost, Susannah Graedel, Caroline Guenther, Paul Horan, Helen Kitzman, Paul Lerner, Vicki and Bill Littell, Matt Lubanko, Denice McGregor, Barry Miller, Arline Morrissey, Ingrid Oris, Paul Petrie, Connie and Mike Piccione, Betsey and Harry Piner, Hank Robinson, Joyce and Jerry Rourke, Carmela and Roy Scialabba, Diane Vanacore, and Jen, Carl, Julie, and Chloe Thompson.

SLF is planning another used book sale to be held Friday to Sunday, Aug. 23 to 25 at the same location, behind the laundromat on Bradley Road. The August sale will be a blow-out sale, with every book at half price, so mark the date on your calendar and look for further publicity. The books we sell are always in good condition and there is a great variety. Don’t miss the chance for wonderful bargains.

The SLF is lucky to have a very good group of volunteers for these sales. Many thanks go to these people who donate time and effort to help the library.
