On Behalf of All our Veterans

We would like to extend a sincere thank you on behalf of all our veterans to the Town of Madison for coming out to our annual Memorial Day Parade. This is a special time for all of us as we honor our fallen. The inspiring speech at the Madison Green by Helen Keiser brought home the true meaning of this day. We would also like to extend a special thank you to the other Gold Star families, Liz and John Delemarre and Sharon Eaton, who have to brave every day trying to continue with their lives while enduring such grief. They are a true testament of strength.

We would also like to thank the 102nd Army Band, which is always an honor to have; the Town of Madison; First Selectman Tom Banisch and the Board of Selectman; State Representative Noreen Kokoruda (r-101), who presented essay winner Lillian Miller from Brown Middle School; Auxiliary President Marcia Stone; and Rev Todd Vetter from the Congregational Church. Thanks go to the American Legion Post 79 Honor Guard for always being the best.

The rendition of the “Star Spangled Banner” by Daniel Hand High School (DHHS) student India Huy took everyone’s breath away. A special thank you goes to John Gage and Ron Soja from DHHS for their musical leadership.

As this is the 100th anniversary of the American Legion, the parade this year was extra important. The Town of Madison has been a great support to both the American Legion and the VFW and we appreciate it. See you on July 4.
