Setting the Record Straight

I was quite taken aback when I read the article about the Academy Committee ( “Academy Committee Makes Funding Request,” June 13), in which it was reported that the Chamber of Commerce, as well as several other groups in town “approached the [Ad-Hoc Academy School Community Center Design Committee] to discuss various space needs that could be solved with an Academy community center.”

I’m not sure about the other groups cited, but the fact of the matter is the chamber never approached them for a discussion. Quite the contrary, the committee’s chair approached the chamber to ask for a conversation and stated in an email on March 15, “Our committee is simply reaching out to hear from various groups in the community.”

Just setting the record straight.
