Slinging Mud

I guess Steve Tracey seems to feel that going down the path of slinging mud at opponents is the way to win an election. Before going any further, one must ask himself or herself how big of an ego one must have to want to be referred to the way he does. I guess he feels he is still in the wrestling ring.

In Tracey’s letter to the editor of May 23 [“Look Forward and Recognize Potential”], he stated he has all the answers and can fix East Haven. Gee, all this knowledge after only six months as a member of the Town Council. Amazing!

Tracey stated his priorities would be to move East Haven forward. How will that happen? He will attract more business. I guess he is suddenly an expert on economic development. He will fix the education system. The mayor has absolutely no involvement with the Board of Education. These are just a bunch of political, know-nothing comments and quick to use the same old pandering punch lines for votes—all talk, no substance.

A good municipal leader is like the CEO or CFO of a large business. Has Tracey been one of those? No! Has he ever worked a multi-million-dollar budget? No! What does he bring to the table to make him a good mayor?

What bothers me the most was his comment regarding “the other candidates running,” saying they “want to continue the negative political practices of the past.” It seems to me Tracey is the only one commencing a public negative campaign with his unsubstantiated comments. Both Joe Carfora and Sal Maltese have actually been politically quiet.
