A Significant Difference

It’s surprising that in our beautiful and prosperous shoreline community so many neighbors go to bed hungry. But the data bear it out: In Branford, 34 percent of our children qualify for free lunches, and that doesn’t include the families who make just one or two dollars over the income line to be eligible for nutritional support.

How can you make a difference? Participate in the annual National Association of Letter Carriers Food Drive on Saturday, May 11. Simply leave a bag of non-perishable items set near or hung from your mailbox for collection when mail is delivered. All food collected in our town will go directly to the Branford Food Pantry.

Whatever you donate, know that your contribution will make a significant difference for the individuals and families that come to the Branford Food Pantry throughout the year.

While all non-perishable food is welcome, there is a special need for peanut butter, jelly or jam, stew, tuna fish, juices, cereal, hearty soups, canned chicken or pork, hash, and other meat-containing foods.
