At what end of the leash is the smarter animal? The Town of Guilford through Ordinance #214-2N states that “the owners and keepers of all dog and other pets using town property are required to remove any animal defecation immediately from the property and dispose of the same in a proper manner.” This means the poop bag goes into the trash stream, not left on the sidewalk, roadway, hiking trail, etc.

There is no such creature as the “Doo Doo Fairy” that comes around in the middle of the night to dispose of these little plastic bags. It is the pet owner’s responsibility! Would you leave your baby’s disposable diaper on the sidewalk or hiking trail?
