Branford Deserves Better

A major goal of the Branford Parks & Open Space Commission is to maintain our 1,500 acres so that the residents of the community can enjoy the beauty of all that surrounds us. As part of that responsibility, a volunteer went through the Supply Pond area and put colored aluminum tags on trees to help people follow the trails and find their way back to where they started. Within one week, vandals went through the preserve and took all the markers down! Branford deserves better than this.

There are also markers saying that no ATVs are allowed on the properties. This is both a state regulation and a Branford statute. ATV owners and riders intentionally violate these laws and regulations are causing extensive damage to the trails. We have requested that the Branford Police Department occasionally patrol this extremely valuable Branford property. We would like to encourage the department to develop a plan to help enforce the statutes and regulations.
