Honored and Privileged

Last week the Board of Selectmen was honored and privileged to award a proclamation to Joan Cerosky. Joan painted and donated the portrait of James Matteson that hangs on the wall of the Board of Selectmen’s meeting room. Her husband, Bob, was a dedicated volunteer who chaired the Police Commission and several building committees including those for Memorial Town Hall, Town Hall, and the police headquarters.

It gave me a chance to reflect on how our town is enriched by the dedication and passion of so many volunteers. My own road to public office started as a volunteer to the Charter Revision Commission more than 20 years ago. Since then I’ve met many people who give unselfishly of their talents. We don’t always all agree on everything, but no matter what we always come together to put Madison first.

I thank Joan for generously sharing her talent with our community.
