A Community with a Huge Heart

A heartfelt note of gratitude to a community with a huge heart: With the support of this community, 140 Guilford households were gifted holiday food baskets. Baskets, complete with turkeys or hams and fresh vegetables, were distributed for both the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.

Bishop’s Orchards again supplied us with its Red Barn and awesome staff support. Palumbo’s Automotive and J.J. Sullivan Oil & Propane held their second Annual Thanksgiving fill-a-truck Event. Guilford Veterinary Hospital and Munger Construction held their 21st annual Holiday fill-a-truck event with the help of Big Y, Walmart, and Dollar Tree. Naples Pizza again loaned us its refrigeration truck and drove it to where we needed it at all times. Every Guilford school held a food drive and the Guilford Rotarians delivered those goods to us. Scores of individuals, businesses, and civic and religious organizations donated to this project and volunteered to help sort and pack the baskets with the help of the American Legion and VFW, as they do every year, and the Senior Center staff once again delivered to our less mobile community members.

What did not fit into the baskets filled up our Guilford Food Bank; we are starting the New Year with fully stocked shelves.

While we could never thank everyone individually for their part in making this project happen, it is clear that it does take a village.
