Wonderful People Always Come Forward

The Scranton Library Friends and the Scranton Memorial Library benefit from so many kind individuals and groups. As this time, two accomplished musicians are offering a concert to help raise funds for our local library during its period of renovation and temporary relocation. The library is trying to work within the confines of reduced funding by the town. However, the Library is a rather unique entity in that it receives part of its income from the town and the rest from private individuals and organizations such as our own. That’s why it’s critical that the public be aware of our new fundraising effort.

With the help of Sorelle Allegre, Claire and Aimee Chang, we are able to sponsor a series of three concerts at the First Congregational Church. Both young women were winners of the 38th annual Renee B. Fisher Competition for Young Pianists. Claire is also a violinist. In this season of joy and hoped-for peace, the first concert is Sunday, Dec. 16 at 2 p.m., a time that we hope will work well for people of all ages. The musicians are offering their performance gratis, but to help realize some financial benefit, we will be accepting donations from concert goers. We very much want this to be a special event, so we will host a reception for the artists after the concert. While the reception is free, we will be grateful for donations from concert goers.

I encourage your readers to come for a lovely performance and to help our library.
