Generosity, Kindness, and Enthusiasm

As another December is upon us, I want to take this opportunity to thank our Chester merchants from the bottom of my heart. Their generosity, kindness, and enthusiasm for the many outreach projects the United Church of Chester takes on through out the year for our local community, as well as the wider world, is deeply appreciated.

Whether it is donating items for mission trips or the Christmas Fair, offering restaurant discounts to event patrons, sponsoring ads for the Home Tour, hanging posters for events, or, in my case, being willing to place UNICEF collection boxes on their counters during the month of October, they are so willing and kind, and I am so grateful. We raised nearly $200 for UNICEF in October, and half of that came from the Chester merchant boxes. Thanks go to all the patrons who placed money in those boxes, which paid for children’s food, shelter, and medicine in disaster relief areas. It doesn’t seem like a lot of money, but just 50 cents buys a meal.

So, when your readers are in town doing their holiday shopping, I encourage them to remember to shop local, and support these fine people and their businesses. They work hard to provide us with an exciting, enriching community, and without them, Chester would not be the charming, vital little town we love.
