A True Community Effort

We would like to thank everyone who attended and/or contributed to this year’s Lasagna Dinner. This event was a true community effort to honor our veterans and to raise funds for Meals on Wheels. The dinner was organized by Guilford Interfaith Volunteers (GIV) in partnership with the Guilford Parks & Recreation Senior Program. The staff members of the Community Center kitchen (which prepares the meals for Meals on Wheels) volunteered their time to cook and serve the food. The veterans of the American Legion Post 48 in Guilford carried out a beautiful opening ceremony that was enhanced by a touching song performed by Pat Todd’s singers in honor of the 59 veterans in attendance. The Pilgrim Fellowship kids and Sean and Megan Scanlon volunteered their time to serve 162 people and went above and beyond, staying after the dinner to help clean up. Todd and Terry from Parks & Recreation were a huge help setting up and cleaning up. Last but not least, thanks goes our wonderful GIV Board of Directors that organized, set up, and cleaned up after the event.

Many community merchants and individuals were very generous with their donations of prizes for the raffle. As the holidays approach, we encourage everyone to shop local and support our local businesses. Our heartfelt thanks goes to Ashley’s, Ballou’s Wine Bar, Big Y, Bob Mansfield, Breakwater Books, Centro’s Pizza, Chroma Gallery, Details, Ella’s, Flowers on the Green, Forte’s, Frank’s Package Store, Java Hut, KC’s Restaurant, Maritime Grill, Mix Design Store, Myra Cusano, Onyx, Page Hardware, Pasta Avest, Salon H, Strawberry Hollow Farm, The Spice & Tea Exchange, Stop and Shop in Branford, Vera Wolf, Village Chocolatier, and Village Greene Gardens. We are looking forward to next year’s dinner!
